ChromaGitManager
The Windows Git client that outgrows GitHub Desktop
ChromaLabs GitManager is a fast Windows Git client built for people who juggle many repositories. Group your repos, launch any of them in any editor with one click, let Smart Commit & Push handle the pull-stash-commit-push dance, schedule background auto-pulls, and extend the whole app with plugins.
Download GitManager
The web installer is a tiny (~400 KB) evergreen setup: run it and it downloads and installs the latest version of GitManager automatically. Install it once — the app keeps itself up to date from there.
ChromaLabs-GitManager-WebSetup.exe · Windows 10/11 · installs per-user, no admin required
Repo Groups & Multi-Editor Launch
Organize every repository into collapsible sidebar groups and open any repo in any editor with one click. Installed editors are auto-detected on first run.
- Collapsible repo groups in the sidebar
- Repo nicknames and group-wide pull-all
- Any number of editors — VS Code, Cursor, JetBrains, and more
- One-click open via editor icon badges on every repo
- Per-repo and per-group editor overrides
- Installed editors auto-detected on first run
Smart Commit & Push
One button that does the whole dance: pull, stash on collision, unstash, commit, push. When a merge conflict appears, a guided conflict resolution center walks you through it.
- Pull → stash → unstash → commit → push in a single click
- Guided conflict center — per-chunk ours / theirs / both
- Whole-file conflict picks and raw editing when you need them
- Editor-style diff view with line numbers
- Multi-select, search, and gitignore actions in the changes list
- Stashes tab for everything you've shelved
Auto-Pull Schedules
Keep repos fresh without thinking about it. Schedule pulls per repo or per group — on an interval or at a time of day — and GitManager fast-forwards them in the background.
- Per-repo or per-group schedules
- Interval or time-of-day timing with day-of-week filters
- Fast-forward only — never rewrites your work
- Background pulls never prompt for credentials
- Shallow clone support (--depth 1 of a specific branch)
GitHub & GitLab Linking
Link your accounts and browse or clone your repositories from inside the app. Tokens are encrypted with Windows DPAPI and never reach the UI layer.
- github.com OAuth device flow — works out of the box
- gitlab.com or self-hosted GitLab via OAuth + PKCE
- Browse and clone your repos over HTTPS or SSH
- Personal access tokens as a fallback
- GitLab tokens auto-refresh
- Tokens encrypted with Electron safeStorage (DPAPI)
AI Commit Messages
With a linked GitHub account, commit messages are drafted for you via GitHub Models. Without one, GitManager still writes a sensible summary of what changed.
- AI-drafted commit messages via GitHub Models
- Automatic fallback message summarizing adds, updates, and deletes
- Configurable commit-message schemes
Plugin System
Extend GitManager with plugins — repo and file badges, custom buttons, whole custom tabs, file viewers and editors, and more. Download approved plugins from ChromaLabs or build your own with the plugin API.
- Repo & file badges, header buttons, right-click file actions
- Custom tabs and modal windows with any content
- File viewers & editors for specific extensions
- Run git commands and read/write files inside repos
- Per-plugin persistent storage
- Drop-in install: unzip → plugins folder → reload
Themes, Updates & Setup
Light, dark, system, and a ChromaLabs theme that matches chromalabs.dev. The app keeps itself up to date, and the installer even sets up Git for you.
- Light / dark / system / ChromaLabs themes
- Auto-update — checks at startup and every 6 hours, prompts first
- Installer detects Git for Windows and offers to install it
- Recursive file search in the Files explorer
- Fetch + reset hard and other power tools per repo
